The program at Courthouse Montessori School is based on the philosophy that each
child is an individual who develops at his/her own pace. In order to help our children
develop their fullest potential, we believe an environment must be created that encourages
a child’s curiosity about the world. The environment should provide opportunities
for the child to think creatively, to make decisions and choices within appropriate
limits. Above all, a child should be in an environment where love and respect are
shown for each child as an individual, and where all children learn to love and respect
themselves and one another.
We believe the initials of our school, CMS, reflect three basic concepts of Montessori
education: Concentration, Motivation and Success. On the next few pages you will
get a glimpse of what you can expect to find at Courthouse Montessori School.
As children grow, they go through an orderly series of developmental stages that
are typically the same for all children. However, the rate at which children progress
through these stages can vary dramatically from one child to another.
“ The child can only develop by means of experience in his environment.”
